Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

I had never seen anyone breastfeeding a baby till I had my baby and latched her onto my breast for the first time.

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

Supporting and empowering families to reach their breastfeeding/ chestfeeding goals.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Hospital, NICU lll, outpatient, birth centers, community health, private practice, and telehealth

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

My daughter and son, my partners in crime, our plant babies, and our hairless rat Mouser make up my family.

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

Music, playing the guitar, singing, songwriting, gardening, baking, adventuring, and nature.

When I became  a breastfeeding mom

Why did you become an IBCLC?

About 20 years ago, after my daughter was born, I realized there was a tremendous need for multicultural breastfeeding/ chestfeeding support in this country. I was inspired greatly by the lactation consultants at the Miami Dade WIC breastfeeding program, who supported me and my daughter in reaching our breastfeeding goals.

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

Love yourself and your baby!
