What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

Helping new families learn, problem solve and grow together

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Hospital in-patient, outpatient, Support Groups and In-home visits

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

My husband and myself, (kids, nieces, nephews and grands all in various locations. Five rescue animals (dogs, cats) and a flock of chickens

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

Gardening and cooking (and canning)

While working in Mother Baby and Labor and Delivery

Why did you become an IBCLC?

To obtain "the Gold Standard" in Lactation.  The training and mentorship was a key part of my achieving excellence in this field.

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

To prepare as much as possible during pregnancy, identify your support system, and commit to achieving your goals. Identify lactation support in your area and reach out to them every time you feel you need help.
