Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

I struggled breastfeeding with my first son and it inspired me to become an IBCLC so I could provide the support I wish I had when I was a young mom first learning to breastfeed. I went on to breastfeed all three of my children.

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

I love empowering parents to reach all of their feeding goals.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Hospital, outpatient, private practice

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

I am married and have 3 sons, a rescue dog and cat, and a dozen chickens.

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

I enjoy reading, crocheting, and going on hikes with my family.

Please share any additional education or certifications you have.

Registered Dietitian (RD), Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc), Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C)

What state do you reside in?

South Carolina

When did you know you wanted to become an IBCLC?

As a dietitian, I was well aware of the nutritional and health benefits of breastfeeding, but it wasn't until after having my first child and struggling with breastfeeding, I realized the importance of an IBCLC's support throughout a breastfeeding journey.

Why did you become an IBCLC?

I wanted to be a support for families to reach their feeding goals, walking alongside them throughout their breastfeeding journey, and celebrating their successes, big and small!

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

Take it one day at a time. Some days may be challenging, but it gets easier. Don’t be afraid to ask for support and help!
