Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

I thought breastfeeding would come naturally, I read the books and took the prenatal classes. It did NOT come naturally, and I had to work hard to find the support to have a successful experience. I ended up breastfeeding both my children into toddlerhood, through a pregnancy and tandem for a year.

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

Empowering families to reach their breastfeeding goals.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Private practice

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

My husband, daughter, son, and soon our St. Berdoodle puppy!

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

Hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family.

What state do you reside in?

Colorado

When did you know you wanted to become an IBCLC?

After struggling to breastfeed my daughter. I wasn't satisfied with the status quo I was getting and knew there had to be a better way to support moms.

Why did you become an IBCLC?

I became an IBCLC to support families during the delicate postpartum period by empowering them with knowledge and compassion to feed their baby.

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

Don't give up on breastfeeding on your worst day, do so on a good breastfeeding day so you know it's the right call.
