Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

The breastfeeding journey I had with my children was made even more joyful by the unconditional support I had, and that same support is what I always hope to bring to the work I do with families as an IBCLC.

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

Helping a family realize that their nursing goals are achievable.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Outpatient through my private practice (home visits, virtual visits, groups support).

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

My family includes my husband, Dave, our two children, Maxine, and Annabelle, and our three cats, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

Gardening, reading, and watching baseball and stand-up comedy.

Please share any additional education or certifications you have.

I am an accredited La Leche League Leader.

What state do you reside in?

Colorado

When did you know you wanted to become an IBCLC?

When I first learned they existed, after the birth of my first child in 2004.

Why did you become an IBCLC?

To offer families the same pricelessly unconditional support that I received.

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

I would encourage them to believe in themselves and to believe in their child.  They can make this journey their own and achieve their own unique feeding goals.
