I remember being 7 years old and my babysitter sitting down to breastfeed her new baby. I thought that what she was doing was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. I didn't think about that moment until the day I learned I was pregnant with my first child. It is my pleasure to help others have a good experience with their baby.
Watching a mother breastfeed her baby with total comfort and love.
I am a retired La Leche League Leader. I worked as a WIC peer counselor and later lactation consultant for WIC. This has given me a great deal of experience as an outpatient LC. Most recently, I worked as an inpatient LC with experience in labor and delivery/postpartum/NICU.
We are a family of six. I have raised three wonderful young men and a fantastic daughter.
I enjoy reading mysteries.
I have completed my Master's in Public Health.
My oldest was 18 months old, and I was helping a friend who had a new baby. She noted that everything I was saying was what her lactation consultant was recommending and that I should consider changing my career.
I knew I wanted to breastfeed my baby when I was pregnant with the first of my four children. What I experienced was a lot of misinformation, making it difficult to breastfeed successfully. I became a lactation consultant to ensure other mothers didn't experience poor information when making decisions for their families. I believe that every woman deserves advice that is evidence-based, and I will do my best to provide the guidance that allows a family to reach their personal goal.
As a new parent, you will get lots of advice from lots of people. My advice is to use what works best for you and forget the rest.
