Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

Breastfeeding my two children is one accomplishment I am the most proud of.  We had our challenges, but In the end it was all worth it.

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

The opportunity to provide expertise, guidance and encouragement to help parents develop confidence in caring for and feeding their breastfed children.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Hospital, NICU, outpatient, & teaching breastfeeding classes

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

I'm married to my best friend.  We have four married children and eight beautiful breastfed grandchildren.

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

Visiting the grands, gardening, traveling, playing the violin, and watercolor painting the beautiful beaches and marshes near my home.

Please share any additional education or certifications you have.

I've been an RN since 1990

What state do you reside in?

When did you know you wanted to become an IBCLC?

When my daughter had her first, a 37 week slow gainer, and sought an IBCLC in the Boston area for support. It transformed her experience, and I knew I wanted to be able to provide that experience for other parents.

Why did you become an IBCLC?

Seeing parents grow in confidence and understanding in their relationships with their babies

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

Trust your instincts.
