Please share anything you'd like from your own personal breastfeeding experience.

I breastfed all my four children, but not without hiccups! Even though I had experience and knowledge, each baby was doing it for the first time, and we had to learn what would work best for us!

What excites you most about being an IBCLC?

Helping parents navigate their individual and unique feeding journeys to achieve their definition of success based on their personal goals.

In what types of settings have you supported patients in lactation?

Hospital inpatient (postpartum, NICU, high-risk antepartum, Pediatric Congenital Cardiac unit), outpatient, and mother-to-mother breastfeeding support groups.

What makes up your family (people & pets)?

My family includes my husband, four children, three cats, and one dog.

What do you enjoy doing while not at work?

I love last-minute beach trips, fostering orphaned puppies and kittens, and wandering around TJMaxx and thrift shops, finding "treasures" I never knew existed.

Please share any additional education or certifications you have.

Registered Nurse since 1997

What state do you reside in?

Florida

When did you know you wanted to become an IBCLC?

I knew after repeatedly watching parents in tears and feeling defeated as they struggled with feeding their infants regardless of their age, education level, or race.

Why did you become an IBCLC?

I became an IBCLC because parents deserve accurate and correct information needed to make an informed decision. They need to be respected to decide what works best for them.

What do you wish you could tell every parent (that they would actually do) and why?

Always follow your instincts and listen to your baby! There is no one who knows your baby better than you. At the end of the day, this is your journey and your story...it has to work for you and your family!
